Why this is different
Trauma and emotion aren’t stored only in the thinking mind — they live in the body and in images, often below language. Art-making offers a non-verbal, sensory pathway into that material when a threat response has bypassed words entirely, so it can finally be worked with directly, even when it never had words to begin with.
It reaches the mind that learned to talk its way around what it’s still braced against.

In the room
There's no performance and no pressure. Some sessions are mostly conversation; some use the materials more. It's always led by you and paced to what feels safe.
Our senior clinicians are board-certified art therapists (ATR-BC) and licensed creative arts therapists (LCAT), a rigorous credential few NYC practices hold. Across the team, we also bring training in Somatic Experiencing, Gestalt therapy, and Inference-based CBT, so the work draws on the body, the relationship, and the thinking mind, not just the art. You're matched with the clinician whose training fits what you're bringing in.
Who it can help
You may know your patterns well and still struggle to respond differently. Or you may feel overwhelmed, numb, or disconnected without knowing how to explain it. Art therapy offers ways to explore those experiences through images, materials, and conversation. Whether you’ve been in therapy for years or are starting for the first time, you don’t need to arrive with the right words.

Testimonials

As a coach, CAP is my first call when clients need deeper support. The clinical sophistication sets them apart — they understand the nervous system in a way that’s holistic, creative, and clinically rigorous.

CAP fills an essential gap—engaging both the cognitive and creative brain for a holistic, deeply authentic healing experience. Jenn and the team are warm, down-to-earth, and exceptional.

CAP quite literally changed my life. I'd tried therapists before but couldn't open up—Jenn created a space so safe I finally could. It laid the foundation for years of growth.
FAQ
Still unsure? The free consult exists exactly for this — ask us anything, no commitment.
Do I need to be good at art?
No — none of it. A lot of what people find helpful has nothing to do with skill or an artistic background.
Is art therapy clinical, or is it "just crafts"?
It’s clinical psychotherapy, practiced by credentialed clinicians (ATR-BC, LCAT) — the creative work is evidence-informed treatment, not an unstructured hobby.
What does art therapy help with?
Anxiety, depression, complex trauma and PTSD, attachment wounds, and grief and identity work — anywhere talk alone hasn’t fully reached it.
Can art therapy be done online?
Yes — it works remotely as well as in person, both across NY, NJ & CT.
